Independence - do you remember when you first THOUGHT you were independent as a loud mouth teenager and how disillusioned you were once adulthood kicked your ass? We've all been there. The word "Independence" means so many things - emancipation, freedom; beyond anything that the Statue of Liberty is supposed to represent. Independence is building a solid ground on your own two feet by your OWN terms. There can't be anything better than that.
We all have those triumphant stories where we have rejoiced in breaking free of whatever limitations were in our way. Whether it was that loser boyfriend/girlfriend who stifled your spirit or that awful 9-5 that made you dread getting up in the morning - we have all felt as though there was nothing left - and were sorely mistaken. Its those stories that give others hope, a reason to believe that there is something more than what is in front of them - a chance at living happily.
All next week, we will be celebrating our very own "Independence Week! She's So New York is asking you: When was YOUR Independence Day? Did you leave a bad relationship? A dead-end job to pursue a passion? Your country/state/town for the bright lights of the Big Apple? We are asking for your triumph stories! Send them to our NEW e-mail address: besonewyork@gmail.com! Remember: YOUR story may help someone rewrite their own!
Happy 4th of July Everyone! Have A Safe and Prosperous Holiday Weekend!!
