Talking Glamm with The Glamm CEO

July 16, 2010

Being attentive to the latest make-up trends will not only benefit you as being trendy, but it CAN'T be topped on any given day! 2010 summer makeup ideas are filled with individuality and style and match the season perfectly as summer exudes excitement ,joy and electricity, characteristics which help install very good mood factors:

The retro inspired makeup trend is based on pastels, vivid colors that bring sheer happiness such as green, blue, purple, orange and pink. Whether electric or soft these colors will help you enhance your natural beauty and make you look like a breath of fresh air.

Don't be afraid to combine different colors to get a more funk-a-licious look as long as you have a great sense of color coordination, making sure the colors work well with each other.

Keep the eyelashes simply coated with a brown or black colored mascara for an elegant look as you don't want to over do it and your cheekbones enhanced with a delicate shade of your favorite blush. To complete your look apply a nudelipstick or lip gloss and look fabulous!
Another great way to enhance your beauty is using a vintage style makeup with a little bit of a modernized twist. Attracting attention to your best facial features has never been easier than with this style of make up as the eyes and the mouth are a women's most seductive weapons so these are the facial features you will have to give most of the attention to.

For example: apply a soft shade of eyeshadow such as lavender and a bloody red lipstick on your gorgeous lips, top your eyelashes with one coat of mascara and you will look fabulous.

The softness of the eyeshadow will be balanced by the boldness of the lipstick so you will have a glammed makeup look in an instant. One thing that should never ever be forgotten and a thing that will always make your makeup stand out is the base.
Concentrate to receive a flawless skin complexion using makeup as there are a variety of cosmetic products available today on the market. Make sure the cosmetics match your specific skin type and that they are applied properly to receive a flawless appearance. Nothing can top gorgeous looking skin and paired with great makeup one can look outstanding.

Glamazon MakeupTip: Test your skills and learn how to apply the makeup to suit your needs and you will most definitely be bombarded with compliments from men and women alike.

Be inventive, be creative, and most importantly be YOU! Hope to see you looking fab on the streets of NY!

Love and fabulosity,

Glamm

"Your Summer, Your Way" : The Maxi Dress

In stark contrast to last year's mini dress, this season's maxi is likely to prove your new best friend. However, be careful that the maxi dress doesn't wear you!

TOP SECRET INFO: (Well not so top secret lol) for the fashion-savvy woman, the secret is in the cut. Tall, willowy goddesses like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Paris Hilton can get away with any style, but mere mortals under 5’4" need to give their dress styles more thought.

Maxi Dresses for Mini Women

While a tall, statuesque woman looks great in their flowing gypsy skirts, this shape can make a short woman look even shorter and larger. Choose a style that is well cut and avoid tent-like diaphonous skirts, to prevent being swamped.

In Zoe Manzi’s Daily Mail article, "Maxi dresses – the must-haves this summer," she advises shorter women to “avoid being drowned by your maxi by making sure your dress is well cut and in proportion with your petite frame. Keep things fitted up top and avoid an overly voluminous skirt.”

• "To stop a full, long skirt from swamping you, team it with chunky heels and a fitted waistcoat." is the fashion advice from In Style magazine, UK Edition April 2007.

A closer fitting empire line will flatter most figures, and if you need to disguise a big tummy then a drape of material at the front will cover the lumps and bumps.

With careful style selection a maxi dress can add extra height rather than take it away. Many of the high-street dresses feature flowing floral maxi, but a sleeker, stylish A-line or bias cut, is more complimentary for shorter women.

• For extra height, dresses can be accessorized with patent platforms, wedges or feminine toe-covered sling backs. Set-off these dresses with long, chunky jewelry and this season's oversized shades and bags.

Maxi Dresses for Larger Women

The maxi dress enables larger women to feel more feminine. This full-length dress covers thick thighs, and can hide wide hips. While last year’s mini dress proved suitable for only those with skyscraper legs; this year’s fashion trend is a lot kinder to the average woman.

• Big-busted women may find the maxi dress harder to pull-off. A halter-style or bandeau top is preferable to thin spaghetti straps, as they are more flattering to the bust. Avoid elasticized tops unless you have a figure that can pull it off. A V-neck draws attention away from the bust and is flattering for the fuller figure.

Will you be wearing Maxi dresses this summer? Stay chic, cool and confident no matter your size! Hope to see you walking the streets of New York!

Us Glammazons can ALL use simple summertime skin care tips to enjoy the summer with no fuss, sore, dry or oily skin! We have to be very careful when exposing our skin to the sun - every year it seems to be more intensely dangerous.

Here are some GLAMM tips to keep your skin in shape this summer:

1. The most effective and important way in which to shield your skin from the sun’s rays is by using sunscreen and staying out of the sun between the hours of 10 am to 4 pm. Make sure to choose a sunscreen that blocks both UBA and UVA rays. Use at least an SPF of 15 and apply it frequently – 30 minutes before going out, every 2 hours when outdoors and right after swimming or exercising. Check the expiration date on your sunscreen before using. Remember your beautiful lips (We often forget that they need protection too) and wear lipbalm with sunblock!

2. Wear brimmed hats (yay!! another excuse to shop) and light colored clothing to cover your arms and legs. Learn to enjoy the shade, (even if you are a sunshine-ista!) Wear sunglasses (ooh more reasons to go to Bloomies!) with UV protection when exposed to the sun to help protect your eyes.

3. Do not use strong abrasives on your skin. Cleanse your skin with warm water and mild soap. At all cost avoid exfoliating products, which can cause small tears. These tears can lead to dark spots on your skin when exposed to the sun. Instead, try a natural exfoliate like a mixture of organic honey and a gentle clay.

4. For sensitive skin, try not to use harsh products whose chemicals can cause irritation to your skin. This is a number one reason that handmade soap is such a summertime skin care must have. You can make it, or buy it completely free from synthetic ingredients such as fragrance and color, 2 ingredients that can be extremely irritating. Also, it retains the glycerin that is natural to soap. It is taken out of commercial bars, leaving it much harsher to the skin.

5. Use a moisturizer on your skin! When choosing a moisturizer, the perfect one will fit three requirements: It smells best, feels best and goes on without feeling greasy. A quality moisturizer should never irritate or burn skin.
6. When sunbathing, use the sunscreen particularly on the most sensitive parts of your body such as shoulders, back of your legs, and neck as these areas are most vulnerable. When shopping for makeup, look for foundations and moisturizers that have sunblock already added in.

7. Gently remove makeup with cotton balls so as to not to irritate the area around your eyes. Oprah.com suggests using a soap-free cleanser and alcohol-free toner as a makeup remover if you have oily skin in the summer.

8. When bathing or showering, it is important not to completely rid your body of its natural oils. Therefore, don’t vigorously dry your body with a towel, but simply pat it dry and add moisturizer afterwards. If you strip your body of these oils, it will work twice as hard to replace them.

9. Before you prepare to shave your legs and underarms, use any of the shaving creams or lotion products available. A cheap alternative is to use hair conditioner or make your own shaving lotion. The fun thing about making it yourself is that you can customize the ingredients to your own liking.

10. Drink lots and lots of water! Because we sweat to keep cool, adding more water to your diet will help your body re-hydrate. And your skin will retain a healthy glow instead of the dried out lizard look that “some” of us are all too familiar with.
